Who are you and what do you do?
We are researchers from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA from the Mobile Commerce Lab in the School of Computer Science. We research privacy and social networking, and are hoping that our research will lead to better tools and algorithms that give users more control of their privacy online.
We’ve built a location sharing tool called Locaccino. You might have see some press about us here, and here.
Why do you need me?
Your friend is part of one of our studies. We need you to try to see their location on Locaccino so we can study their perceptions about privacy while they’re sharing their location.
What’s in it for me?
At the end of our study, we’ll choose 10 people randomly from the Locaccino friends of all of our participants. The selected friends will receive a $20 Amazon gift card.
What do I need to do?
All you need to do is go to Locaccino, login with your Facebook account, and explore a little bit. That’s it!
